How It Began

I grew up in Pangkor Island, located on the west coast of Peninsula Malaysia.

My Educational Background

I was granted an academic scholarship at Glamorgan University in Wales, UK. I achieved my Bachelor’s Degree of Mechanical Engineering with a First Class Honours.

I then went on to receive my Masters and Doctorate Degree from the University of South Australia and Binary University respectively.

My Career in the Motorcycle Industry

Hong Leong Yamaha Motors (HLYM) was the second job in my corporate career. I started out as a Quality Assurance (QA) engineer, and was promoted to Manager of two different divisions.

Soon after I became the Head of Production, then General Manager, and finally Managing Director.

Present Day

In addition to my ongoing responsibilities as Managing Director of Hong Leong Yamaha Motors (HLYM), I was given the opportunity to be the Group Managing Director of Hong Leong Industries (HLI).

The new role with HLI required me to get involved with industries outside motorcycles. These include marine outboard engines, tiles, and spare parts.
